I solved this problem with version 1.80, although I don’t know why. I have JDK11 installed.

Finally, I upgraded to 1.90 on the configuration page (http://localhost:8090/ConfigUpdate_p.html).

Had similar problems.
With cloud install precomiled source Just running antdefault install of java run-time. Has worked with other droplets.
I ran bin/passwd.sh before starting peer.
There was an Error about no data/settings folder…
Please note I am using a android 11 phone to launch yacy from a nextcloud server.
GitHub refuses to clone guest and user accounts
Android phone can be switched to view as web page but has anyone tried a txt only Linux browser?
Thanks
Yacy as a search engine works ok but no config …

You have to set Yacy’s mode 1 of 3 before the config page goes away.

I used a Terminal Browser called links2 to set configuration. I did try another but it did not work.

sudo apt install links2
links2 http://localhost:8090
