What features should you look for if you are creating a build with YaCy in mind?
Why would these features be of use?
Which are the most important ones?

That would depend upon what you aim to be doing. Are you crawling a lot? Are you getting a lot of search queries? Generally YaCy can be pretty vertically scalable just by giving it more of everything and anything.
“If I were to make a build for YaCy I’d run a decent even if modest number of processor cores, as much DDR4 as prices will let me get away with, and a really big hard drive to be able to index more.”

For one to three website a small VPS can be enough, for more than a million page a dedicated server could be a good investment.
either use a disc which does not share IO with other applications or use a SSD
